The Boyertown Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) had a great idea to cut down on the number of fundraisers held throughout the year while still collecting enough money to support the school. The idea was the Quarter Mile Fundraiser and the goal is to collect quarters throughout the year leading up to a one-mile-long line of quarters. Before the PTO could launch the fundraiser, they needed a donation of coin containers to give to each elementary student. Diamond Credit Union was the only financial institution to answer the call when the Boyertown Elementary School reached out to several area banks for help with the plan.
In addition to the donation of 660 coin containers, the PTO will also be able to use Diamond’s coin counting machine to save time and keep track of donations. The PTO anticipates that this one fundraiser will raise over $15,000. The money collected will help the school with events, field trips, new technology, and updated equipment.
“This is a great opportunity to help a local school and teach kids about the value of money. I commend the Boyertown Elementary School PTO on the idea to simplify their fundraising schedule and still create a fun and interactive activity for the kids. We were not expecting this, but we were able to make it work. We had to. We just couldn’t let the school miss out. Now we look forward to supporting this fundraiser for years to come,” stated Erica Mutter, Branch Manager of the Diamond Credit Union Boyertown Branch.
