Diamond Credit Union joined forces with Home4Good, which is a Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) program based out of Pittsburgh. Home4Good works with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and other partners to help those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness in Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.
Continuums of Care and service organizations that serve the homeless can apply for grants during the funding round of the program. FHLBank members can then submit a co-applicant form to indicate their support of local projects.
Diamond Credit Union is a member of FHLBank, and co-sponsored several Berks County organizations that help homeless community members. Five organizations that were supported by Diamond were awarded Home4Good funds, which totaled over $112,000.
The organizations that received funding are:
- Clare of Assisi House
- Family Promise of Berks County
- Hannah’s Hope Ministries
- Hope Rescue Mission
- Mary’s Shelter
- CoC Administration of Berks County
“We are always looking for ways to help local organizations that give back to our communities,” President and CEO of Diamond Credit Union, Rick Patel said. “By showing that we support these Continuum of Care organizations, Home4Good was able to provide them with funding to further help those in need.”
Home4Good’s Impact on the Community
FHLBank has three state housing finance agency partners. The Delaware State Housing Authority, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and the West Virginia Housing Development Fund. Since 2018, the organizations have worked to provide millions of dollars in funding every year to serve those in need.
Key populations the grant money helps include people with mental illness, victims of domestic abuse and people with physical disabilities. The funds help provide organizations with case management, prevention, rapid re-housing and much more.
