On behalf of Diamond’s employees, Board of Directors and members, Diamond Credit Union donated $5,000 to the West Reading Disaster Recovery Fund. The fund supports those that were impacted by the Palmer Candy Company tragedy that took place on March 24.
The West Reading Disaster Recovery Fund was created by the West Reading Borough Council, Berks County Community Foundation and the United Way of Berks County to aid members in the community that were affected by the explosion in West Reading.
Collected funds will provide grants to the organizations that are assisting the community members in the following ways:
- Grants to organizations providing support to the families of individuals killed in the explosion for immediate financial losses.
- Grants to organizations providing support to individuals displaced from their homes as a result of the explosion.
- Grants to organizations providing support to individuals displaced from employment as a result of the explosion.
- Support the Borough of West reading for planning and/or implementation of historical commemoration of the explosion.
“Diamond wishes to share our sympathies with R.M. Palmer employees, families, friends, and neighbors,” Diamond Credit Union President and CEO, Rick Patel said. “We need to come together to support those that have been impacted by this tragedy in any way that we can.”
