His background combines entrepreneurial vision with strong expertise in institutional strategy, compliance, advisor succession planning, and wealth management program oversight. As a co-owner of Financial Resources Group, Thompson helped guide the firm through its growth and eventual acquisition by LPL Financial. He later served as Senior Vice President and Divisional Manager at LPL Financial, where he led a team of Regional Investment Directors supporting more than 200 bank and credit union investment programs nationwide, including Diamond Credit Union.
“For the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of supporting Diamond Credit Union’s financial advisors through LPL and Financial Resources Group,” Thompson said. “Now, I’m excited to officially join the Diamond family to lead and help elevate our investment program. I look forward to working directly with our talented team, to deepen our impact and expand the financial guidance and solutions we offer our members.”
A Family Man Looking to Give Back
While Thompson brings vast executive experience to his new position, he says one of the most rewarding aspects of his next chapter is the opportunity to give back.
After retiring from LPL Financial in early 2026, Thompson joined Diamond with a goal of using his experience to coach, mentor, and support the next generation of financial professionals. It is a chance to share the knowledge he has gained throughout a long career while contributing to an industry that has played an important role in his life and his family’s life.
His leadership philosophy is captured in one of his favorite quotes: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Outside of work, Thompson’s priorities are centered on family.
Happily married and the father of two sons, Thompson spends much of his free time traveling with his wife to visit his boys, who live out of state, spending time at the beach and biking. He is also an avid car enthusiast.
With decades of experience behind him and a new opportunity ahead, Thompson is looking forward to his next chapter at Diamond Credit Union.
