Diamond Credit Union was recognized at the March 23, 2015 Pottstown School Board Meeting for providing ten years of financial support and encouragement to the Pottstown School District Reading Olympics. Andrea Sawchuk, Diamond Branch Manager, accepted a certificate of appreciation on behalf of Diamond Credit Union.
The Reading Olympics encourages children from all Pottstown elementary schools to get excited about reading, learn teamwork skills, and improve reading comprehension. The event is a rapid‐recall question and answer competition that asks teams of students to answer questions pulled from 45 books. Pottstown holds a day‐long Reading Olympics event to prepare students before the larger Montgomery County Reading Olympics. Diamond’s donation helps to pay for supplies, travel expenses, and team T‐shirts that promote team spirit and set Pottstown apart from other participating schools at the county level.
“I can honestly say that the Reading Olympics is one of my favorite work days all year. It’s awesome to see the kids so excited about reading and working together. I’m incredibly thankful to the Pottstown School District for allowing us to join the fun each year,” stated John Faust, President/CEO of Diamond Credit Union.
In addition to the recognition Diamond received at the meeting, Karen Neitz, Reading Olympics Event Coordinator, presented Diamond with a banner, thank you cards from all of the participating students, and a cake that was created by the culinary arts students. In return, Diamond presented Neitz with a mascot‐sized thank you card from the staff of Diamond Credit Union, and Chip, the Diamond mascot.
Doing our part to support local schools and help children succeed …That’s younity.
